Harmonious - Obscure

This picturesque and strikingly beautiful environment captures a small part of Valle Verzasca, a charming valley, hidden in the Swiss - Italian Region of Ticino. I remember capturing this photo while waiting for the local bus, listening to the stream washing against the smoothly eroded rocks. The image and its brilliantly vibrant blue and green colours has a calming effect,  reminding me of the serenity of nature. 

I find it rather amusing that I managed to come across this beautiful stretch of the Verzasca River while waiting for a local bus and it reminds me of the odd pleasant surprises you may come across unexpectedly.

Frank Gehry's, Walt Disney Concert Hall, 2003, emerges from Los Angeles's landscape and its generic boxed towers. 

Its features, stylistic to the architect , appeal to the eye, drawing the viewer along the eclectic and satisfying curvature of the structure. Hence, the viewer is prompted to consider dimension and perspective, especially the origins of the both striking and elegant design, replicating the movement of sails, caught in the wind.

Inspired by several duplications of ‘The Great Wave off Kanazawa - Hokusai' in street art, clothing and posters, the featured photo exhibits my own embellishment of the artwork using embroidery techniques. 

With the aid of a sample picture, I was able to sketch a distinct outline of the wave upon a large square of nylon mesh, differentiating the specific and intricate features of the wave break. The decorative medium and combination of threads, beading and sequence creates variation in the design alluding to the unique dimensions of the wave from foamy white to deep ocean hues. 

The most interesting part of the work is the notable texture uniting smooth and rough elements which align to form a satisfying piece of creative work.
